EGLINTON-LAWRENCE – MPP Michelle Cooper announced that the Ontario government is investing in 416 Seniors Active Living Centres across Ontario to support 2 local projects to help seniors across Eglinton-Lawrence stay active, healthy and socially connected. This funding will support 2 Senior Active Living Center programs in the community, helping deliver the services and community connections seniors need to live healthier, more independent lives.
“Our seniors deserve opportunities to stay active, healthy and connected to their community. This investment in Seniors Active Living Centres will help more older adults in Eglinton-Lawrence access programs that support their well-being and independence,” said MPP Michelle Cooper or Eglinton-Lawrence.
SALC programs deliver a range of initiatives designed to bring seniors together to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones, offering ongoing recreational, social, and lifestyle activities. The province partners with a range of organizations to deliver SALC programs, including municipalities, non-profit corporations, registered charities, Indigenous groups, Legions, Lions Clubs and recreational clubs.
“Our government is increasing our investments in these very popular Seniors Active Living Centres,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “We are investing close to $23 million dollars in 416 Seniors Active Living Centres, with 100 new ones added this past year.”

- This past year SALCs received a $17 million increase over three years.
- This new investment increased funding and added 100 new SALCs across Ontario.
- This is the annual investment in SALCs by any government in Ontario’s history.
- SALCs receive up to $55,000 for maintenance and operating costs, this is an increase from $42,700 in 2023, to $50,000 in 2024.
