I had the opportunity to speak with Ontario’s Attorney General, Doug Downey, about the unanimous passage of my Motion 58 and what comes next.
This motion lays the groundwork for a specialized hate crime Crown prosecution unit in Ontario, ensuring these cases are handled with the focus, expertise, and consistency they require. We discussed the next steps and what this means for strengthening accountability, supporting victims, and reinforcing confidence in our justice system.
